www.learnthebible.org Critiques TOJ Website

4. Biblical Scripture Showing Jesus Died

The website and its owners are accussed of having no faith in anything and simply looking for facts and medical evidence. The article goes on to quote extensively from the Bible trying to demonstrate that Jesus died. The quotes, however, fall in to the following catagories:

- Old Testament prophecies that may apply to Jesus, or may not.
- Writings of St Paul who never met Jesus or witnessed any of the events.
- Extracts from the Gospel of John, a Gospel writing around 200 AD and one that is significantly different from the other canonical Gospels.

This website quotes Jesus' "Sign of Jonah" which Jesus himself said would serve as the only miracle for his generation. This piece of scripture suggests heavily that Jesus would be saved from the Crucifixion.

Finally the website claims that the TOJ website does not ackowledge the flogging that occured for the Crucifixion victims. This website openly acknowledges this, but knows that this was done to all Crucifixion victims and that they still managed to survive days, so Jesus should have also have been able to. The website claims that one source says that the flogging left many close to death, yet fails to give any reference to this mystery source.
